My client is a global company that specializes in delivering data center services with established operations and a presence expanding across multiple regions.
Due to an increase in projects, my client is looking to recruit Data Center Shift Engineers.
Role Overview: The Data Center Shift Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center operates efficiently.
This includes both planned preventative maintenance, corrective daily tasks, and emergency responses.
The Shift Engineer manages relationships with third-party vendors and ensures mission-critical equipment maintains optimal uptime.
Equipment includes generators, switchgear, UPS systems, cooling towers, pumps, motors, and building automation systems.
This position involves a 3 x 8 hour rotating shift schedule, including days, nights, and weekends.
Responsibilities: Operate, monitor, and respond to abnormal conditions in facility systems.
Complete preventive maintenance tasks across multiple engineering and mechanical areas.
Perform inspections of building systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical distribution) to ensure clean, safe conditions.
Rapidly respond to and manage indoor emergency situations and air quality issues.
Handle work requests, including creating, closing, and tracking work orders.
Evaluate and provide feedback on contractor performance.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications: 5-10 years of experience in operating, installing, and maintaining critical building systems, with expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems.
Valid Electrical Certification (appropriate for the region).
High school diploma or college degree.
Knowledge of data center electrical and mechanical systems, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, PDU units, chillers, air handling units, and CRAC units.
Strong observation skills and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
This is a full-time position, offering a highly competitive salary and shift allowance.
The role is located in a major metropolitan area and may involve minimal travel.
