Position
As a Software Lead Engineer, you ensure the design, development and integration of embedded software within safety‑critical vehicle systems. You will translate system and vehicle requirements into software concepts and architectures, define and guide software development activities, and support certification efforts in close cooperation with internal teams and external partners. You coach and support less experienced colleagues in your team, supervise outsourced development where necessary, and actively contribute to process improvements and technical strategy. You play a key role in aligning PAL‑V's software development efforts from the vehicle‑level to item‑level objectives and certification frameworks.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Software development: Translate system and component requirements into software architecture and design. Develop embedded software in C/C++ (bare metal or RTOS‑based), including specification, integration, and verification.
Technical leadership: Lead software activities within the Electrical Systems team, mentor junior and medior engineers, and coordinate with external partners. Lead design reviews and technical discussions.
Testing & Validation: Define and execute software test strategies and verification plans. Support debugging and root cause analysis, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards (e.g., ISO 26262, DO‑178 C).
Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in development processes, tools and methodologies. Contribute to the evolution of the embedded software platform.
Safety & Compliance: Work in accordance with applicable safety standards and engineering guidelines. Proactively address software‑related safety risks and promote a safe development environment through high‑quality code and documentation.
Profile
HBO/WO working and thinking level in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related.
10+ years of experience in embedded software development (preferably automotive, aerospace or similar high‑tech industry).
Strong knowledge of embedded C/C++, real‑time systems, software architecture, and debugging tools.
Familiarity with model‑based design (e.g., Simulink), version control (Git), and software lifecycle management.
Experience with safety‑critical software development (ISO 26262, ASPICE, DO‑178 C) is a strong plus.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
