About the organisation
Our client is a leading global manufacturer of advanced laboratory and online process analyzers for the petrochemical, aviation, and energy industries. From their Rotterdam entity, they serve customers across Europe. The finance team is in an active phase of development and is looking for a specialist to bring structure and continuity to the accounts receivable function.
The role
As Accounts Receivable Specialist, you take full ownership of the AR function for the Rotterdam entity. The organisation is rationalising roles and responsibilities: job titles are being aligned with actual activities, processes are being professionalised, and accountability is being clarified. You step into a key position and bring the structure that is needed.
You work in an experienced, internationally oriented team and collaborate with stakeholders in Rotterdam, Houston, and other locations worldwide. The culture is direct and pragmatic. This is not a place for waiting to be told what to do; it is a place for people who take initiative and maintain control.
What you will do
Manage and reconcile the accounts receivable ledger, including invoicing, collections, and period close
Monitor the order-to-cash cycle and proactively flag risks or bottlenecks
Collaborate with internal stakeholders including sales, customer service, and the broader finance team
Liaise with external parties such as customers, banks, and auditors
Contribute to the ongoing rationalisation of roles and processes within the finance department
Support group and statutory audits and ensure accurate, complete documentation
Drive improvements in structure, oversight, and accountability within the AR domain
What you bring
2-5 years of experience in accounts receivable or a comparable finance role
Solid accounting knowledge; familiarity with Dutch regulations is an advantage
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, IFS, or similar) and confident Excel skills
Demonstrable experience in an international or matrix organisation
Background in a shared service centre environment is a plus
Language
English is required for internal collaboration
Personal
You take ownership and work independently, while actively engaging with the team
You are flexible and comfortable with change and ambiguity
You communicate clearly and professionally, including with international stakeholders
You are eager to learn and at ease with new systems and ways of working
You are not afraid to bring structure where it does not yet exist
What we offer
A responsible, autonomous role within a growing international organisation
A hands-on environment where your contribution is directly visible
A collegial, direct culture with room for your own input
Competitive terms of employment, in line with the role and your experience
Room to grow as the finance function continues to professionalise
